An Early Cancellation Fee (ECF) applies to all subscribers with a committed-term service agreement (Fido Agreement) if, for any reason, your service is terminated prior to the end of the Fido Agreement.
For service agreements entered into on or after June 30, 2010, applicable only to Residents of Québec: The ECF is the amount of the economic inducement (which may take the form of a discount, rebate or other benefit granted on the price of your Equipment), as stated in your service agreement (Economic Inducement), less the amount obtained by multiplying such Economic Inducement by a fraction representing the number of months elapsed in your Fido Agreement as compared to the total number of months of your Fido Agreement (plus applicable taxes). A Data Early Cancellation Fee (DECF) also applies if, for any reason, your data option is terminated prior to the end of your data option’s commitment term (Data Term). The DECF is the additional Economic Inducement you received for subscribing to your data option, less the amount obtained by multiplying such Economic Inducement by a fraction representing the number of months elapsed in your Data Term as compared to the total number of months of your Data Term (plus applicable taxes), and applies in addition to the ECF for termination of your service agreement. If you subscribe to a plan combining both voice and data services, both the ECF and the DECF apply, up to the total Economic Inducement. If there is no Economic Inducement stated in your service agreement, then the ECF is the lesser of $50 or 10% of the monthly service fees for the services that you have subscribed to on a Fido Agreement and Data Term, as applicable, but not provided as of the termination date (plus applicable taxes).
For all other service agreements: The ECF is the greater of (i) $100 or (ii) $10 per month remaining in the Fido Agreement, to a maximum of $300 (plus applicable taxes), and applies for each deactivated phone number. If you have subscribed to your monthly plan before February 1, 2007 and you continue or renew on the same monthly plan on a 2- or 3-year term, the ECF will be equal to $20 times the number of months remaining in the term, to a maximum of $200 (plus applicable taxes). If you have subscribed to your monthly plan on or after February 1, 2007 but before July 19, 2009 and you continue or renew on the same monthly plan on a 2- or 3-year term, the ECF will be the greater of (i) $100 or (ii) $20 per month remaining in the term, to a maximum of $400 (plus applicable taxes). A Data Early Cancellation Fee (DECF) also applies if, for any reason, your data option is terminated prior to the end of your plan’s commitment term (Data Term). The DECF is the greater of (i) $100 or (ii) $10 per month remaining in the Data Term, to a maximum of $200 (plus applicable taxes), and applies in addition to the ECF for termination of your Fido Agreement. If you have subscribed to your data option before July 19, 2009 and you continue or renew on the same option on a 2- or 3-year term, the DECF will be the greater of (i) $25 or (ii) $5 per month remaining in the Data Term, to a maximum of $100 (plus applicable taxes), and applies in addition to the ECF for termination of your Fido Agreement. If you subscribe to a plan combining both voice and data services, both the ECF and DECF apply.
Data
Unlimited mobile browsing add-on Includes on-device mobile browsing, excluding tethering (use of device as wireless modem) on select Fido certified devices. Usage subject to Fido terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, Fido.ca/terms. Data transmission charges of 3¢/KB apply when roaming.
What is included in the Unlimited mobile browsing add-on This add-on includes Unlimited browsing and application use ( i.e Google Maps, Gmails etc) on your Fido phone. It is only available on select phones (Windows Mobile® devices, Laptop Internet devices and non-Fido certified phones are not eligible).
What is not included in the Unlimited mobile browsing add-on Tethering - Tethering is when you use your phone as a wireless modem to connect to the Internet via a laptop. The phone can be connected via USB cable or Bluetooth. Once connected, you can access the Internet wirelessly on your laptop using the Fido wireless network.
Data roaming charges apply, in addition to regular subscription fees when accessing the mobile Internet while roaming outside the Fido GPRS/EDGE/3G network.
The Data add-ons, the Flexible rate add-on are applicable to the following data usage:
- Accessing the Internet using the built in browser of any Fido phone, Fido device or phones not certified by Fido
- Using any applications that you have downloaded to your phone.
DataWeekPass for non-smartphones Includes unlimited on-device mobile browsing, excluding tethering (use of device as wireless modem) for 168 hours from the time of purchase on select Fido certified devices. Usage subject to Fido Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, fido.ca/terms. Data transmission charges of 3¢/kB apply when roaming.
Data Week Pass for smartphones Includes 125MB of data for 168 hours from time of purchase for on-device mobile browsing (using a BlackBerry) or for on-device mobile browsing, email, instant messaging and application usage (on other smartphones). Excludes tethering (use as wireless modem). Data transmission charges of 3¢/kB apply when roaming.
Data add-ons Add-ons apply within Canada. While roaming outside Canada, the rate of 3¢ per KB applies, except for customers with a Data add-on, for which a rate of $0.006 per KB applies or customers with a Flexible rate add-on, for which a rate of $0.003 per KB is applicable in the U.S. only. Available without a monthly airtime package.
Tethering Policy Tethering is the use of your phone as a wireless modem to connect to the Internet from your computer. Effective immediately, tethering will continue to be included at no additional charge for Fido customers who subscribe to a data add-on of 1GB and above.
US data rate add-on This add-on is non-pro-rateable.
Data Tracker Text messages are sent to the customer as information only, and the customer is billed for data usage regardless of whether or not the warning text messages are received. Fido does not guarantee that the service will work without interruption. Notifications may be delayed if the phone is turned off or when you are outside of the country.
Personal E-mail on BlackBerry® add-on includes unlimited personal e-mail (up to 10 e-mail accounts) and Instant Messaging with a BlackBerry smartphone on the Fido network. Visit fido.ca/dataoptions for details. All other data usage will be unavailable on your device with this add-on, which cannot be combined with a Data add-on. While roaming in the U.S., data transmission charges of 0.6¢ per KB apply. While roaming internationally, data transmission charges of 3¢ per KB apply.
